Actors Salaries
Wendy 157307801-Dec-24
Are high profile actors today paid too much money for their profession when the current cost of living is so expensive for the average population. Would you consider paying $25+ for a cinema ticket to go and watch an actor who has been paid $20 000 000?

Something to consider is whether those high paying actors contribute their money in the world in a positive way, i.e. helping with food shortages, charities, rebuilding after disasters, etc.?

Producers and networks are willing to pay them these high salaries because people do go and watch them be it in a cinema or television and I do go to the cinema because it is fun and good date night with my wife

The problem is not so much as what people get paid. The problem is people that get paid higher wages than me need to pay a much higher tax rate than me. That is...lower my taxes and increase significantly the taxes on those that make multi-millions or billions.

Actors have been overpaid for decades. One of the many reasons I can no longer afford to go to the cinema.

No absolutely not, have not been in the cinema for years and will not go don't matter what they playing. My time is worth more than that and I can spend my time more better than that.

Baseball players are the ones that are overpay. Being pay millions to play a game seems so unreal. Pitchers working 1 or 2 days a week and relief pitchers going 1 inning and saying they are overwork. They need to get a real job.

No to paying so much for a film ticket when I can easily buy the film on DVD or BR disk and yes, they are paid too much. They all seem to think they deserve huge contracts like athletes who are likewise overpaid. Did ya know that in the silent film era and the early talkies from 1927 on to the 1940's, most actors and actresses not only worked w/o pay, they usually were also producers of the films meaning the actors themselves had to shell out capital from their own pockets/purses to make the films? Most famous of these chaps is Harold Lloyd. Another item not widely known re actors in early films is that there were no stunt doubles for men or women! The actors/actresses had to their own stunts! Lloyd insisted on realism so when you see him at a construction site for a skyscraper, that is Harold himself walking I-beams from one to the other several stories above the ground!

I have not been to the movies in years and not I would not pay that. However, I think they get most of the returns on streaming services as they are only if ever in the theaters for a few weeks at best. Still, taking out the costs of making the film, paying everyone, theater fees etc. they still make billions on these films so I think the actors should get a good salary.
