Discussion of the Day
How many women go through menopause in their early 30's?
Nadia S18-Sep-22
I have wondered what the reasons behind why I meet more women who start menopause younger and younger. I started just after turning 30. It seems that there is more to this hormonal change in our community of women than meets the eye. Wondering if our meat we are consuming are filled with growth hormones given to the animals before they reach out supermarkets and how it is affecting us in the long run.

I don't know anyone that young to go through menopause unless it's peri which is the years leading up to menopause.I do agree that what we eat is definitely playing havoc with our hormones but not just necessarily from meat but all the other processed rubbish we are feeding our bodies.

I do not know anyone who has experienced menopause so young, but it would be sad for the many women who are putting off having families until later.

Free from periods and worrying about contraception is a real sense of freedom for me.

They have found certain types of plastic can change our genetic makeup and tadpoles never change into frogs. That is the reason baby bottes must not be made from certain plastics. Ever wondered why so many children have medical and behavioral problems while we and our children didn't? Our milk came in glass, our jam and vegemite came in glass, our bread came in paper and our fresh fish and meat was wrapped in paper. Sometimes we need to look back to see what was better for us.

I had my tubes tied at 29years of age as my hubby and i decided 4 kids was enough for us and i didn't want children later in life. I also have a Mirena, I'm on my 2nd now and have been told it will be safe for me to have 1 or 2 more (Mirena replacements) which should put me past menopause and therefore, i won't have to deal with all the menopausal symptoms.

I also think it must be the genetically modified foods as well as the lifestyle- more stress

Genetically modified foods cause cancer and other illnesses, it's plastics that do damage to hormones.

I was 13 yrs old at beginning of Menstration. My husband died suddenly when I was 47. The shock of that happening seemed to stop any further monthly bleeding. Strangely, I had very few signs of the headaches, hot flushes etc that plague most women from then on. However at 43 I had had my tubes tied, perhaps that helped diminish the menopausal effects.

Fertility in both males and females is dropping at a quite surprising rate...it might even be as high 5% or more per generation...I suspect the planet has had enough of us....

I thought menopause comes when eggs runs out. When start period early i guess you can finish early 30s. I would not say it's because of life style is it?

A doctor told me that the later you start menstruation then the earlier you will go through menopause. My daughter was 16 and menopausal at 35. Lucky, luck me started menstruating at 10 and didn't go through menopause until 57, but also must admit I have never been a fan of fast food, take aways and anything that I don't cook for myself.

I eat plenty of red meat and my menopause was surgically induced at about age 43. I was having such extreme problems with my gyn parts that I had my uterus taken, otherwise known as a hysterectomy. I kept my ovaries against medical advice because I am and was against synthetic hormone replacement therapy. For short it is called "HRT". Hormone replacement therapy. It's not without significant very dangerous side effects. Cancers, heart failure, and a host of life threatening complications. Just like birth control. Birth control is a risky treatment to undergo too, but many women would rather take a chance with neg side effects and have reliable birth control. Our environment, diets, obesity, and genetics all play major factors in when menopause will start it's onset. It is very true and scientifically documented that you can bet that your natural mother's onset of menopause is a great indicator of when you will start your menopause, give or take a few years. However, environmental factors will affect that relationship between your moms menopause and your own onset of menopause.

I just turned 38 and had to have hysterectomy at 23, which I was told would lead to menopause earlier than normal. And at this point, my husband is ready to killme at times it seems.

We do eat a lot of processed food now. I know people in the seventies and eighties who were menopausal in their forties. I guess thirties is just an advancement of this trend. You are probably right, and as someone else here said - Mother Nature probably IS groaning. Not so sure about overpopulation. I know it exists. I was thinking more if you wanted to keep your fertility as a woman, you might have to go all organic, non GM food and steer away from chemicals generally.

I had surgery second time to remove what the surgeon had left in. No more monthlies until I came out to Australia. Then all of a sudden it all started again. I saw a gynaecologist at the recently finished Modbury Hospital who said if it happened again, to get in touch with him, which I did do because the following weekend it happened again. In for surgery & the surgeon found that instead of cutting down into the womb, the ****** surgeon had cut straight across hence leaving a bit of the womb intact but that time the surgeon did the operation properly. Great not to have any more problems.

Early Menopause is considered to be from about 41 to 45. The much more common age is from 45+. Early or premature menopause can be due to a number of reasons such as auto immune conditions, galactosaemia, enzyme problems, the effects of treatments for cancer such as chemo or radiotherapy etc. Many women who experience premature or early menopause have an affected relative so it suggests genetic factors may be at play.I have not seen any scientific evidence at all that suggests hormones given to livestock are in any way associated with premature or early menopause in people. I've seen lots of conspiracy theories, but not actual evidence.Given in a lot of cases, no specific cause of early or premature menopause ( of the 1% or women who experience it) has been identified it is an area that could do with more research to find out what the contributing factors may be.

I got my periods when I was 11 and apparently I have been through menopause. Recently I was suffering from hot flushes, sleeplessness and emotional but my hormone levels were at an okay level for my age so it may have just been a bug. I feel fine now and I thought I'd just go on HRT but my GP said No as there are too many bad side affects with the treatment. I am better off not taking any thing. It's is a mine field with all the different types and with the medication I am on I don't want any thing disrupting that as it is working.

However some have an easier transition than others It seems girls too, are starting their cycles earlier too? .Make sure you find a good dr .there are some specifically registered for this issue under your local gp listings. All the seemingly little things earlier on end up adding up til you realise oh,yeah, maybe I am in peri or actual menopause. Good to at least get your hormone levels checked or sometimes just a few questions answered can help.
