According to a recent Variety magazine statement, the actor felt his approaching age of 81 as an action star was an important factor he wanted to convey for Indy, explaining that he wanted the character to look old and for the film to be highly ambitious in that fact.
Ford turns 81 in a few weeks, and in his own word has 'grown up' and 'grown old' with his dear "Indy."
"It completes 42 years of work," says Ford, of this emotional moment in his career. "It's a movie I always wanted to do at the end of the Indiana Jones period of my life. I always wanted to visit him towards the end of his life."
