Can you name two real "Family" films?

Not sweet and sugary...not ones where all the heroes are small children...not ones you sleep through to keep the kids happy....REAL FAMILY MOVIES...where everyone watched really enjoy them...where ALL of you can watch it several times together, and it is STILL really good?... I know a couple anybody else?...this could save couples with young children a lot of grief if you help!

          I think half the films quoted are ones that audults think kids will like. I know as a kid I absolutely hated the Sound of Music - it's just so soppy - I suppose it's a nice story when you get older but I've never met a kid that's liked it. Jurassic Park is a bit scary for the young ones, Forest Gump is a bit too complicated (although good is you need a sleep). The best are ones that kids enjoy seeing but have a knowing wink to the adults with humour that would go over the kids heads, like Toy Story, Paddington and Shrek.

            I HATED the sound of music as a young child...it destroyed a promising young female actress's career....and then growing up and seeing parts of it again...I think I might have hated it more...after Gone with the Wind...it would have to be the worst English language film of all time...my parents asked me what I thought of it as a tiny boy outside the cinema...I actually remember my response "I wanted the nazis to get them"...that is how bad it was..... ALSO...please try and listen to "the sound of music" by the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band...it must be on You Tube...I clearly wasn't alone!

Selky which was a movie about a seal and Oddball which is a lovely movie we were at the Maritime Museum in Warrnambool Victoria when they were filming so that one is kind of special to us.

There are so many sneaky jokes the adults will love. Totally goes over the kids heads until you watch it again when they're older and they start laughing and giving you looks in parts of the movie they didn't "see" or understand before. The Shrek movies are great too. I also love anything by Aardman- Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit, etc Sing and Sing 2 were both good, as was Boss Baby. Coco was another lovely movie.

                                                                                                                                                                                pay it forward, my kids were 12 and up but loved it, very sad and based on a true story but we have watched it more than a couple of times, the original willy Wonka and the chocolate factory, sat with the grandkids 3,5, and 12 they sat through it and loved it, but my absolute fav is the five pennies with Danny Kaye, really nice film not for the little ones bit old but a great story
