Where did Father Christmas aka Santa Clause originate?

    Santa Claus (note the spelling) was based on St Nicholas. The current Santa Claus suite of red and white and with a white beard is based on a Coca Cola add in 1933. The last sentence would almost turn a person off Christmas.
